SUSTAINABILITY & INNOVATION
Sustainability has been at the forefront of CCP’s approach to manufacturing for over 15 years. CCP became the first precast concrete manufacturer to achieve the code for responsible sourcing excellent level, based upon the use of over 95% secondary sourced aggregates, called ecocrete. In practical terms, this means that over 70% of the concrete produced by CCP is recovered waste from the extraction of locally sourced china clay waste commonly known as “stent”.
ABOUT US
We offer customers a high level of technical advice and design expertise from more than 40 years of industry experience.
CCP meets BSE 6001-Responsible Sourcing criteria.
We are signatories to the British Precast Sector Sustainability Charter and were one of the original consultants to the Sustainability Charter Audit. The aim of the Charter is to ensure that member companies go beyond legislation and take voluntary actions to make their products and operations more sustainable.

Slim|Crete
At the forefront of our innovative approach to precast concrete manufacture, CCP has developed the Slim Crete brand,
using fibre-reinforced concrete in place of traditional steel reinforcement. Slim Crete allows much greater tensile strengths than traditional polypropylene fibres and thus helps reduce the section size of the concrete, reducing the use of resources.
Slim Crete is ideally suited to low rise housing as a direct – and ultimately higher performance replacement – for either timber frame or traditional block work.

Traditionally, concrete would not necessarily be viewed as most people’s choice for an environmentally friendly product. As demand grows for increasingly environmentally friendly solutions within the construction industry, ecocrete products have been developed as a range of environmentally friendly structural concrete products which are made from a minimum of 80% secondary sourced products. At its core is recycled china clay waste which is washed and graded so that it can be used as sand and stone in the concrete. Additionally cement can be partially replaced with either PFA or GGBS which are waste products from the coal and steel industries. Reinforcing steel used inside the concrete is sourced from the scrap metal industry. Finally, no mains water is used.
All ecocrete products are responsibly sourced in accordance with BES6001.
Cornish Concrete Products has further developed ecocrete plus which has a minimum overall content of 85% secondary product. This continual commitment to environmental matters assists our customers in their pursuit of BREEAM excellence. (ecocrete plus is not suitable for inclusion in all products).
