Miss James Footbridge, Hindhead
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The project has removed a major source of congestion, particularly around the A3/A287 traffic and the centre of Hindhead.
The existing A3 around the Devil’s Punch Bowl has been closed bringing considerable environmental benefits to an internationally prized area.
The centre of Hindhead is freed from the daily gridlock that blighted the area, bringing benefits to road users, local residents and the environment.
PROJECT DETAIL
CCP supplied key elements to Miss James Bridge which allowed a crossing just to the side of the twin bored tunnels under the Devil’s Punch Bowl.
CCP fabricated the parabolic shaped legs to the footbridge as well as the feature bridge parapet units which had an exposed aggregate finish.
The bridge will link the two side of the Miss James walk and the whole scheme is set to keep over 30,000 cars a day off the heath land.
