Dawnus RNLI Station, Exmouth

PROJECT OVERVIEW

CCP fabricated a precast concrete slipway for the Exmouth Lifeboat Station. This consisted of precast Spine beams running the length of the ramp which spanned between insitu cast pile caps.

These Spine Beams had a series of pockets cast-in for dowel connections.

On top of these precast Spine Beams, CCP fabricated deck beams which spanned across the ramp and were dowelled into the spine beams.

PROJECT DETAIL

The tops of these Deck Beams were manufactured with a textured finish to ensure that the lifeboat tractor unit would be able to grip the ramp.

This precast ramp was approximately 50 metres in length and was obviously inclined down to the water.

By choosing the precast option for these works, programme certainty could be assured, avoiding the vagaries of the weather on an exposed site, the logistics of getting insitu concrete placed, as well as saving significant and costly falsework on what is effectively a raised and inclined platform.
