Westfield Shopping Centre, London

The redevelopment of the White City stadium by Westfield in West London is to be one of Europe’s largest shopping centres with Cornish Concrete Products supplying staircases, landings and shell beams over a 4 year period.

CCP designed, manufactured and supplied almost 1300 stair flights and landings all with fairfaced treads, risers, strings and soffits.
Precast concrete flights and landings were chosen by the in situ concrete frame contractor because of the assured quality as well as the programme implications of casting in situ.

All of the stairflights were supplied with tread protection to the customer’s specification

CCP also supplied precast concrete shell beams over the underground station which weighed in excess of 20 tonnes each.

The contract underwent many alterations, not least because the end client changed about halfway through the contract.

Whilst all of this had an effect on the co-ordination of details with the respective parties, CCP managed it successfully within its resources.
